Where is Valldemossa?
Valldemossa Resort Guide
Valldemossa is a secluded, quaint Majorcan village, tucked away in the heart of the stunning Serra Tramuntana mountain range in the north-west of the island. The village is inland, about a mile from the west coast of the island, and offers spectacular views out over the sea.
Just 20 km from Palma airport, the village is a quiet and relaxed place with a small resident population, popular with holiday makers looking for a peaceful base for exploring the area. This area attracts many walkers, climbers and cyclists, and many routes are directly accessible from Valldemossa.
Relatively undiscovered as a holiday destination, Valldemossa is known to independant travellers for its beautiful setting amongst an area of spectacular natural beauty, with a backdrop of mountains and countryside all around. The village also attracts a great number of day-trippers who travel here by tour bus.
The village is charming and pretty, with cobbled narrow old streets that wind and twist surprisingly. There are a number of friendly cafes and restaurants where you can sample the delights of local cuisine and hospitality.
The village has plenty of ancient architecture and historical significance. There is a monastery Sa Cartoxia, and an interesting church and palace Palau de rei Sanxo, which have been subject to attack from Pirates for many centuries.
For breathtaking countryside and views, Valldemossa is an ideal base to explore Majorca's north-west: charming, relaxed and friendly.
