Situated on a cliffside close to Palma Bay, Illetas is within the municipal district of Calvia, and at just 10km (about 6 miles) from Palma Airport, transfers from airport to resort usually take about twenty minutes, traffic permitting.

The resort is considered to be one of the most exclusive on the island - and this is certainly reflected in the class of hotels , resturants and bars in the resort. Most of the hotels in Illetas are luxury hotels aimed at affluent tourists, and there is a sophisticated feel to the resort with classy cafes, bars and restaurants.

There is a small sandy beach at Illetas, as well as several rocky coves. The beach does get busy but you can usually find a quiet spot for yourself on the soft white sand. The sea is warm and clear and very inviting.

Illetas is not typically a destination for package holiday makers and few tour operators offer package holidays here. In the main, holiday makers in this town tend to be independent travellers, families and couples looking for something a little more refined than some of Majorca's more well-known resorts.

There are few tourist attractions and the resort will appeal more to those seeking peace and quiet. The atmosphere is relaxed and laid back so this is not the place for activities, noisy entertainment or all night parties! Regular buses go to Palma and around the south west, so Illetas is a good base for exploring. Its proximity to the city of Palma also means that a lively night out is within easy reach, just a short taxi ride away. The resort of Cala Mayor is also close by.

With rugged cliffs and greenery set around mainly low-rise buildings, Illetas is a pretty resort with stunning views of the surrounding area and Mediterranean sea. Its exclusive feel and luxury facilities will appeal to the more discerning holiday maker.
