For quiet beach holidays with all the amenities and few crowds, Sa Coma is a perfect family holiday destination.
Sa Coma is a modern holiday resort,on Majorca's eastern coast, close to the larger resort of Cala Millor.
Within the municipal district of Sant Lloren des Cardassar, the resort is about 65km (approximately 40 miles) from Palma airport, and transfers can take an hour and a half or more, depending on traffic.
This is a fairly quiet resort that appeals to families - the beach is small but stunning, and no doubt a major draw for the many holidaymakers who stay here each year. Sa Coma has all the usual amenities: sun loungers and parasols, watersports equipment, pedaloes and other fun activities. The beach is clean and safe, a lovely place for children to play and splash.
Along the seafront runs a pleasant promenade for pedestrians, along which you can walk almost the full length of the resort. Neighbouring resort S'Illot is within walking distance and is a quieter, more traditional village, in contrast to Sa Coma. There is also a tourist mini-train that makes the journey between the resorts in the summer season.
Sa Coma is a pleasant resort, purpose built yet not over-developed, and has a good array of facilities for holidaymakers. There are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants to choose from, and there is a family friendly atmosphere in the resort.
Although this is a compact and friendly resort, it is not a traditional village and has little history or cultural attractions - it caters for holidaymakers, pure and simple. Sa Coma attracts many British visitors and there are a good number of British bars and eateries.
Nightlife is fairly restrained - there are some lively bars in the town, but on the whole things quieten down by midnight, and much of the resort's entertainment is within the many hotel and apartment complexes. Nearby Cala Millor is within easy reach by taxi or a long stroll, and has more vibrant nightlife for those who like to party all night.
Accommodation for holiday makers ranges from self catering apartments and villas to good value 3 and 4 star hotels, some of which offer all-inclusive deals.
Sa Coma also has a good selection of shops for souvenirs, beachwear and accessories.
Local points of interest include the Punter De N'Amer headland, a specially protected area of great natural beauty.
“Holidays in Sa Coma are quiet and relaxing, with a lovely beach and small selection of bars and restaurants, it is ideally suited to families.”
